Livestrong, be social.
When I heard that Lance Armstrong decided to advocate his passion for social media and broadcast directly with fans via the site Livestrong.com and file behind-the-scenes blogs, videos and photos from the “2009 Tour de France.” I thought wow, what an incredible way to not only get your fans involved into the race but what a great forum to spread your message about cancer research as well! He will broadcast through Livestrong.com exclusively and use Twitter to make sure people can not only see the tour, but actually feel it and hear it directly from his mouth—unedited.
Oakley, Nissan and Clear2o are the presenting sponsors of the site’s behind-the-scenes “Tour de France” content, and their products will get placement in blog updates.
What a great story, fight back from cancer, race again, win the biggest cycling event 7 times and have the motivation and drive to create a deeper meaning behind the color yellow! I applaud his use of social media to bring realness to the race and more importantly inspiration to millions!
Lets face it, the sport’s popularity has faded greatly with him not in it. And a lot of people, including myself will take a much larger interest in competitive cycling once again due to the brand called Lance.

I like the idea that Lance is managing his own brand! (Perhaps he took a lesson from Tiger Woods.) The negative press that he endured overshadowed where the real focus should have been – on cancer awareness and research. This is a great way for people to see the real Lance Armstrong – not what the media wants us to see.
