You mean Starbucks isn't the hip/happenin' place to hang out any more? Great - I'll actually start going there now.

Free WiFi = priceless.

Having to pay $5 for a cup of coffee to use said free WiFi and experience decent atmosphere = acceptable.

Having all that and being forced to sit in uncomfortable chairs in brightly lit small spaces, listening to pompous jackasses spout-off about how important they are on their crackberry because they simply must be seen at Starbucks = just not worth it.

There's a very interesting memo from Howard Schulz relating to this very topic - when did Starbucks lose its atmosphere by trying to appeal too widely?

Here is a link to the memo which I've also seen referenced in WSJ: http://starbucksgossip.typepad.com/_/2007/02/starbucks_chair_2.html

One good quote from it that kind of sums up the whole problem is, "Some people even call our stores sterile, cookie cutter, no longer reflecting the passion our partners feel about our coffee." McDonald's hasn't lost anything by offering coffee in the morning, but Starbucks has lost a lot by commoditizing its own brand name.

Hi nice post, i have come across your site once before when searching for something so i was just wondering something. I love your theme, would it happen to be a free one i can download, or is it a custom one you had made? In a few weeks i will be launching my own site, i'm not great with designs but i really like the style of your site so it would be cool if i could find (or pay for) something with a similar look. :) Thanks!
